My Frame of Mind

These are my thoughts, however I may quote those who are smarter and wiser than I am.

Red Carpet Watchers

I like to watch Oscar's night and all the Red Carpet pagentry.

The who's who in true traditional Hollywood glamour (like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly) or the what-could-she-possibly-thinking tradition buckers.

Last night was the same for my company annual dinner-dance. It's the one (ok, maybe 2 times) a year that I still say to myself, "self, ya gotta loose that middle fluff area".
This year I found a great bargain at DressBarn...a midriff hugging, perfectly concealing blouse that was actually cute! I didn't even have to wear my Spanx!
(and no...my hair is NOT that red...it was an overhead light at the entrance to the ballroom)
just in case you were wondering what-the-heck-what-she-thinking about the hair color!

Red Carpet Memories
Now if you think I'M a fan...Here's my friend Helen...I was one of her 8 bridesmaids and she was my matron of honor (along with her twins in uterio)
No one is allowed to call her house during the nominee announcements...
No ONE!
Don't even think about calling her tonite. She's a big, REALLY BIG movie buff.
So much in fact, that every Halloween, her costume represents movie themes from the past.
It was fitting for her 50th birthday that her family pulled off the surprise worthy of "may I have the envelope please" when they rented the remodeled Crest Theater downtown.
Her name was finally in lights.

Here's the layout left side of the outside marque and her limo arriving.
We all lined the red carpet and when she hopped out of the limo...ohmygod it was hysterical!
(notice the row of red cardstock representing the red carpet across the bottom?)
Here's the 2nd layout with the supporting cast (her husband, twins and son)
and the party itself.
This shows the flip out album of all the other "little people" who attended. I'm on the cover of course!

You'll see the close up here of some of the posters that were scattered about the food tables...the finger foods actually matched the movie theme!
Except dinner of course...that was Italian all the way, babeeee.
Tables were set up around the theater seating area itself with subdued lighting.
It was a memorable evening.
It was like really being there at an Oscar after party.
Then we got to "roast" her.
And I liked it...I really really liked it.
