These are my thoughts, however I may quote those who are smarter and wiser than I am.

Another Fab SB Getaway!

Sorry a tad late...but as soon as my vacation was over, I got the creepy coughy cold thing going around and went back to work to rest!

I actually got some scrapping done at our Stampin' Memories this time! We were fortunate enough to be able to stay an extra nite, and since I didn't have any hostess duties, got right down to scrapping!

In May of '09, we celebrated 10 Scrappin Years together! Wow! That's somethin, eh?
Here's a layout I did to celebrate the event...I usually don't handwrite my journaling but as someone better than I mentioned that our handwriting is as important as the story...of course she had really, really cute penmanship! just click on the picture if you dare to read the story...

Haven't done the title area to intro the great, special guest that weekend, Bren Yule!

I love the topper, which I used the fab acrylix stamps to "split" the words...

I forgot to Interrupt this Blog....

Sorry I forgot to mention that I would be out Scrapping this weekend at our Fall Stampin Memories!

I thought I'd just give you a smidge on what treats were in store for us...
I won't tell you about the Carmelized Bacon...Apple somethings with home-made Carmel sauce...cheesy shreaded potatoes (be still my thighs), the fabulous beds (with no snoring roommates), no dishes nor runny noses to wipe because that would just be mean and I'm not wired thataway.

But I WILL tell you about the fabulous home-made Scones and Rosemary New Potatoes~ 2 words;
Oh Yuuuummmmm....

And the door prizes weren't bad either!
If you Scrapbook and just need some time away to be spoiled for a weekend...mark your calendar for the next Stampin Memories Scrapbook Getaway Feb. 12/13th 2010.

We interrupt this Blog.....for Stampin' Memories!

This weekend will be one of beautiful weather, paper, glue and scissors with the girls.
You would think that along with our pictures that we would only need paper, glue and scissors.
Ha!
Fourteen totes (so far) packed! Ya just never know the right little do-dah needed to complete that oh-so-special memory packed layout, eh?

Even though I get a bit stressed anxious preparing for our Stampin' Memories SB Getaways, it's worth it when we finally arrive, get settled and start SCRAPPIN' !

Every once in awhile other than local newcomers, we have an unexpected surprise guest and this time it's someone we consider Close To My Heart Royalty.

Ya think she'll fit in with our wild and crazy scrappin' group?

The Martha Stewart in me wants me to make sure that she has a fun time..
leaving her newborn grandbaby girl, interrupting her move on Monday (!)
and driving about 8 hrs each way...

Thank goodness I have Monday off to recover!

Stampin' Memories Scrapbook Getaway

It was a SHORT Getaway for me since I wasn't granted the day off today...grrr...
however, that didn't stop me from spending exactly 6.5 hours and 42 minutes creating a template and making this layout from Convention in August 08.
I saw these cute decals on all the windows with one word inspirations...took many photos of them just knowing I'd use them on my layout (whenever that got done)
I couldn't find any complimentary papers that matched, so I went with white space.
Tell me what ya think?

This is the cover so to speak. Eventually, things will be added to expand for the entire trip.

In spite of not having the day off (and having to load all my stuff to my car in the pouring down rain whilst everyone else slept warmly, and cozily in their beds), our Getway was full of fun times, Cricut cuttin, scrip-scrappin', awesome home-made breakfasts, and of course the ever-traditional shopping trip to Michael's for some new had-to-have goodies!

And of course, everyone just L@@@VED their low fat, no fat, high in fiber cupcakes!

This is the other project I finished...a giftie for P & M in Florida.
You may remember that this is my girlfriend from high school that I visited the week before Convention.
Ironically, they were here...yeah...in California just the week BEfore I was out there.
I love little acrylic albums!
This is the cover

This is the next set of pages of them doing a ATV ride.

Now the next set of pages are pretty cool.
You see the back side of a tunnel they went through, then the train ride on the right.
but you're actually looking through a clear page. (aren't those dang acrylic albums clever?)

So now the clear page is on the left and you are seeing the real train picture and you see them peeking over the top on the next page. (cute, eh?)
I love the graffiti look, so I lopsided the word Lake with white rub-ons.
The photo on the left is the backside of the train picture and I used rub-0ns again to spell out
Tahoe (name of lake that is...Lake Tahoe)
Stay with me now as we see how fun these acrylic suckers and rub-0ns can be!
the right page here is the last and longest page. Amazing pic of the lake again...but turn the page and what do you see...?

Another shot of Lake Tahoe and the rub-0ns peeking through spelling Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is really beautiful.
I really love these little acrylic suckers...did I mention that?

I'll mail this off tomorrow to her along with a check she had sent trying to pay me for the DogTopia album. I couldn't accept it.
Really...I mean I really couldn't accept it....and neither would my bank when they saw the payee name as Gertie Howard. Who the hell is that they asked?
Well, that's another story for another insomnia driven night.

SuRprIseD!

I wasn't surprised that she did it, but I was surprised to hear singing on Saturday while up at our SB Getaway when my mom walked in with a cake and an armload of presents!

And, I might add, she placed upon my head the traditional Red Hatters' Birthday Hat.
All the loot is in my lap...and check out the cUte green jacket!
Moms.
Whaddaya gonna do?
Just eat the damned cake!

Get 'er done!

Just this past weekend, I was off to Stampin Memories Scapbook Getaway...
while it's suppose to be a productive weekend, I'm usually slow in the production process because of the pre-paring process.
However...!
I was able to finish a layout series of my CTMH Album Retreat taken in 06
(remember, the mantra; it's ok not to be caught up in your scrapbooks!)

Color combinations;
Sweet Leaf, Twilight, Cocoa
All B/T papers are retired.
Stamp set used is C1322 Gratitude
Cricut come some of the first few flowers.
(if you weren't present in Folsom, and can guess how I made the white flowers, post here!)

The Zermatt Resort was beautiful, as are the surrounding properties..

Lower left corner is actually a flip-out to hide some additional photos.

There's an awesome design on our shirts....below the photo on the right, you'll see some hand-made embellishements to match.
Here's the close-up.

Since the entertainment was a Let's Make a Deal type game for fabulous CTMH products, a lot of my fellow consultants went all out to represent (what else?) CTMH products!
(hell with copyright issues I guess)
My roommates and I were just "bloomin idiots"...
(whattarya laughin about?)

Another good reason to wait to scrapbook an event...it took 2 years for CTMH to come out with a flower in a stamp set that matched!

"Sew" what?

A friend of mine had her annual retreat in Idaho in February and made some DARLING! little cloth satchels for her guests...
Since Stampin Memories SB Getaway is coming up for us in May, I said to myself, "self, you can sew!"
Got that thinga-majig portable bobbin threader and powered up that sewing machine...
Now mind you that while Tresa is "Fabulously Artsy" I am absolutely Fartsy, and had some major meltdowns (seriously) but made it through...

She is sew Fabulous, that she even put the directions on her blog...check it out and click here.

Now...check out my version!

Oh and just in case you are one of the guests sneaking a peek, I won't say who this one is for. Yes...each one will be color coordinated to the recipient.

Another Scrapbook Getaway Tradition

It just wouldn't be the same without an "unfortunate" event...
as the tradition goes...there's always an injury of some sort that takes place before a Stampin Memories SB Getaway.
Let's see...one time, it was a back spasm, another time I was recovering from a cyst removal on my leg, another time (and this was the best yet), I had driven over my own foot.

One time, I was wracked over the coals by someone who called me a "cold heartless, MEAN-o-pausal witch with no forgiveness in her heart.
(which didn't leave a bruise but caused other bodies parts to implode)

THIS week is true to the tradition.
The same said foot suffered an unidentifiable injury...could be a broken bone around the pinkie toe area or just bruised. How do ya like the colors of bruising so far? The colors are by far the best in between the pinkie toe, however, I wanted to spare you the details of what could be lurking in there since my a.m. shower so you'll have to take my word on that.

Did I have it x-rayed you ask? Who the hell has time? I have door prizes to shop for, goodie bags to put together, a mom who's having surgery, and bathrooms that need cleaning, floors that need mopping, and an out-of-town guest arriving!

So ice packs (ie; frozen lima beans) and Pink M & M's are the best I can do!

Youth Scrapper

We definitely don't age discriminate at Stampin Memories SB Getaway!
While we do have age "guidelines" for registration (it IS a mommy's weekend away afterall), it's been fun to watch our regulars' children grow up even if it's only in the photos they scrap while attending. We were use to seeing Eryn come and go just to visit or say hi while she was young(er), but Eryn has been coming as a guest for a few years now. Her keen eye for color and design has been inherited from her mom Cari (who is seen in the post below winning bag #1!)
More about Cari later!

An Accomplished Scrapbooker

For the next few weeks (or up until the next SB Getaway featured previously), I would love to share what fun perspectives we have at the Bradley House.
When I look at this picture of Anne, (and if you are a scrapbooker you'll appreciate the humor) I see not the frustration of attempting to master the Disney Cricut cartridge...not the endless wasted scraps, not the long, really long list of the paths of how she found success for the desired result, not her bloodshot eyes, not her tongue lagging from dehydration... what I do see is the dedication and commitment (not to be confused with a person who needs to be committed) of a person totally into making a truly memorable page of a treasured moment.
Some say "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid!) Well, if that is your prospective of scrapbooking or cardmaking, ok. fine. really. no really!
But don't sit near Anne.

Go ahead and sit near the "unknown scrapper"...she's usually half bagged anyhoot

Better yet...sit near me.
I usually don't get very much done unless you count dolling out the door prizes!

oh...and in case you want to see Anne's finished layout (minus the "minnie" title)

It's Time to Think About Getting Away...SCRAPbook Getaway that is!

Coming up is one of my favorite events....Stampin Memories Scrapbook Getaway!
Along with my friends Anne and Dawn, we have been sponsoring these SB Getaways 4 times per year for NINE years!
Not only is there alot of SHOPPING to do, name tags, goodie bags, but we pack a haunkin amount of stamps to share as well. In the ol' days, imagine 4 HUGE suitcases full of wood mounted rubber stamps (that was Anne) and an XXL full of stamps (that would have been ME!)
Now...shoot! A few portable, soft-sided drawers will bring double the images in My Acrylix stamp sets!
Which leaves ALOT more room for other fun things (like the Cricut and Expressions and their Cartridges of many flavors!)
Early Bird Registration is open now!
Join us for 3 days and 2 nites of fun filled scrappin and email me for details at stampinmemories@aol.com !!!

Oh! and the artwork posted above...?
When a great guy wants to five a SB Getaway to his beloved...this is what she receives!
